There's something for everyone in Normandy, with its 350 miles of rolling coastlines, its everchanging, verdant landscapes, its history and culture, and its food and drink. Both accomodations are ideally located for discovering top tourist sites like the famous Bayeux Tapestry, depicting the story of William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings in 1066........
Sainte Mère Eglise, only 44 kms away, the first village liberated on June 6th 1944 and today baosts a wonderful Airborne Museum and is only minutes from UTAH beach...... Omaha Beach, nicknamed 'Bloody Omaha' for obvious reasons, has to be seen to be believed, as one can easily go back in time to D-day and eerily imagine the horrors of that tragic day while at the same time, feel at peace in the calm of the American Cemetary overlooking the 'bloody' beach......... La Cité de la Mer with its acquarium and submarine...... of course, the magnificent Mont St Michel, only 146kms from here........ A great place for kids to stay - locally, they can do anything from making bread in an authentique 18th Century boulangerie to cycling along the old (and obviously flat!!) railroad (la voie verte) in Bricquebec, not to mention visiting the second highest sand dunes in Europe at Vauvillle, and the Planetarium - all within a stone's throw from the gîte. Boys, of all ages, generally love the war museums with their planes and tanks, and the blockhouses found along the coast - leftovers from Hitler's Atlantic Wall, while girls can enjoy great shopping, or be pampered at our local salon de beauté in Les Pieux!
